Battery and range

How many km does the battery of an electric bicycle last?

How far you can ride your electric bicycle depends on various factors. Consider, for example, the weight of the driver, the type of road surface and the weather conditions. To give you a general idea of how far you can cycle, the following is an indication:

Battery in the frame

24.5Ah (882Wh) ~ 120 – 220km

22.4Ah (806Wh) ~ 110 – 200 km

18.2Ah (655Wh) ~ 100 – 170 km

17.4Ah (628Wh) ~ 100 – 160 km

14.0Ah (500Wh) ~ 80 – 120 km

In rear carrier

17.4Ah (628Wh) ~ 100 – 160 km

15.6Ah (562Wh) ~ 90 – 140 km

13.0Ah (468Wh) ~ 70 – 120 km

10.4Ah (374Wh) ~ 60 – 90 km

When do I charge the battery of my electric bicycle?

We always recommend charging your battery after every ride, even after shorter rides this is a wise thing to do. The battery may remain in the bicycle or be disconnected during charging.

Not using your e-bike for a while? It is then recommended to charge the battery to approximately 80% of its capacity.

Can I continuously charge my battery?

It is possible to connect the battery of your electric bicycle to the battery for a longer period of time. The Battery Management System (BMS) stops the voltage being supplied when the battery is almost fully charged. This protects the battery against overcharging.

Can I ride my bicycle when the battery is empty?

This is possible. When the battery is empty, you will no longer receive any pedal assistance and you will notice that pedaling is slightly heavier. This is not due to the 'heavy running' of the e-bike, but to your habituation. You have to get used to cycling again, that takes strength. In addition, an e-bike is slightly heavier than a regular bicycle, so that it also needs a little more energy to propel it. In principle, our e-bikes cycle like a normal bicycle.

How long does it take to charge the battery of my electric bicycle?

Fully charging the battery of your electric bicycle can take between four and eight hours. This depends on the residual capacity and the type of charger.

  •  A two-amp charger has a charging time of five to eight hours
  •  A three-amp charger has a charging time of three to five hours

What is the correct temperature to charge and store my battery?

It is best to charge your battery at room temperature. This is about 21°C.

The permitted storage temperature for your battery is between 15°C and 35°C.

Are you aware that your battery will perform less well in extreme cold or heat. Never place your battery in direct sunlight or in places where the temperature can rise quickly.

I will not be using my electric bicycle for a long time. How do I protect the battery?

If you will not be using your battery for a longer period of time, make sure that your battery is charged between 60% and 80% and store the battery in a cool and dry environment.

We recommend fully recharging the battery every two months, so that the energy cells within the battery are not damaged and you prevent deep discharge.

Does my battery have to be completely empty before I charge it?

No. You can charge your battery at any time. The life of your battery will not deteriorate if you charge the battery to, for example, 80% instead of 20%.

How do I ensure the longest possible battery life?

There are a number of things you can do to extend the life of your battery:

  • Make sure that the battery is charged after every ride, even after shorter trips
  • Store the battery in a dry environment at room temperature
  • Make sure the battery is charged between 60% - 80% when not in use for a long period of time
  • Recharge the battery every 2 months during extended storage
  • Provide appropriate bicycle support and acceleration while riding. This way the battery is not unnecessarily burdened.

My battery is not working (properly). What should I do?

It is quite normal for the performance of your battery to slowly deteriorate. This is a normal aging process and occurs with every battery.
